At 5pm PT today, my employment ended with Clear2Pay. I had a great 14 months at C2P and was sorry to see it end, but larger forces were, and still are, at play. You see, C2P sells payments software to banks and other financial institutions.....and they just aren't in the buying mood right now. So, despite the efforts of many great people, C2P was forced to layoff a handful of people. Seeing as the project I was going to managed had been delayed until 2010, it was difficult to make a case as to why my position should not be one of the ones eliminated. I have no hard feelings toward C2P or anyone who works there - it's a good company with solid leadership, one that I hope survives this economic meltdown.
So....today's entry is another short one, but it gives you an idea of why I am now unemployed.

Posting 0.1
For my 1st post, I'm going to keep it short and sweet.
You'll notice the title of my blog is 'Adventures in Unemployment'. Since I'm going to be unemployed as of the end of the month (tomorrow), I'm thinking a good release from the stress associated with looking for a new job will be to write about my adventures/misadventures. The last time I was job hunting was in 2000 while I was in b-school and living in Manhattan Beach - I think I played more volleyball than I actually searched for a job. I'm pretty sure it will be different this time around.
Another reason I'm keeping this short is because I have so much going through my mind, I don't think I can write anything past a couple of sentences that would be coherent.
So, look for more posts from me as I figure out what the heck to do with myself while trying to find a new job.
